Project Description

The Program Team has established a robust Technology Priority Map (TPM) development process. These TPMs will document the impact potential, research needs, and market readiness of all technologies across each of the end-use technology areas which will drive product ideation and inform Project selection. The TPM will also look to include program linkages by connecting with stakeholders in the program landscape who have expertise in the Lighting, Plug Loads and Appliances category. Strong, well-executed TPMs will help externally communicate the priorities of the Statewide Electric Emerging Technology Program, clearly define the central focus areas of the program, and assist with Project screening.

The process will include the reformation of the TPM Subject Matter Expert (SME) Team made up of Technical SMEs from the project team of Energy Solutions, VEIC, TRC, AESC, and UC Davis. The SME team will also convene an external TPM advisory committee outreach process which will include dissemination of the Preliminary Findings Report to representatives from the CA IOU PAs as well as from emerging technology interests from the IOU programs run within the state, other regions (such as NEEA and ComEd), and national interests (such as DOE, EPA, and the National Laboratories).

The process will also include the review of equity standards toward disadvantaged communities (DAC) and hard-to-reach communities (HTR), with input and review assistance from the Ortiz Group. The development of the Lighting, Plug Loads and Appliances TPM process will commence in March 2025. The 12-week process for the Lighting, Plug Loads and Appliances TPM is scheduled to conclude in the end of Q2 2025.
