The Program Team will attend the AESP Annual Conference in San Antonio, TX between February 5-8, 2024. The CalNEXT Program Team’s abstract has been accepted and has been asked to present on a panel. The panel’s presentation title is “Moving from demonstration towards deployment: the shifting role of emerging technology programs in the age of decarbonization, demand management, and grid infrastructure.” The panel will include three leading utility emerging technology and innovation programs: CalNEXT, ComEd’s Customer Innovation program, and Wisconsin Focus on Energy’s Future Focus. The CalNEXT representatives will promote the California ET program to appropriate stakeholders. The audience will learn about how the largest utility emerging technology programs are evolving from an efficiency-driven, R&D approach to one that includes business models, electrification, grid resiliency, and equity in order to meet the wide-ranging needs of the modern utility portfolio. This audience is important for future project submissions, technology transfer of projects, and garnering external stakeholder feedback about the program.
