ET22SWE0008 - Plug Loads and Appliances TPM (2022)
The Program Team has established a robust Technology Priority Map (TPM) development process. TPMs will document the impact potential, research needs, and market readiness of all technologies across each of the end-use technology areas which will drive product ideation and inform Project selection. Strong, well-executed TPMs will help externally communicate the priorities of the Statewide Electric Emerging Technology Program, clearly define the central focus areas of the program, and assist with Project screening. The project type of this effort is designated as "New TPM" to signify that this is the first TPM developed under the new Statewide program implementation. The TPM will be updated on a yearly cycle, and the subsequent annual TPM update will be designated as the "Revised TPM" project type. While classified as the "New TPM" project type, the development will reference the existing 2020 TPM with updated technical contents, improved strcuture, and enhenced consistency within and across Technology Families.
The process will include the formation of the Plug Loads and Appliances TPM Subject Matter Expert (SME) Team made up of Technical SMEs from the project team of Energy Solutions, VEIC, TRC, AESC, and UC Davis. The Plug Loads and Appliances SME Team will also form an external Plug Loads and Appliances TPM Advisory Committee which will include representations from the CA IOU PAs as well as from emerging technology interests from the State of California, other regions, and national interests (e.g. DOE, National Labs, GSA). CalNEXT's 2022 TPM development began with the Whole Building TPM, and the development of the Plug Loads and Appliances TPM process will commence in Q3 2022. The 12-week process for the Plug Loads and Appliances TPM is scheduled to conclude in Q4 2022.
